For boys
First word of advice for scouts: contact a merit badge counselor as soon as possible. An approved counselor is your greatest resource and will help you through the steps of the badge. Take advantage of the network that scouting offers, because they will have connections with people and organizations necessary for the completion of this badge, and will help you develop a rewarding hobby or career that can continue throughout your life!

Secondly, use this guide as a jumping-off point to begin your own experience. Not everything will be explained within and much of the railroading merit badge depends on doing.
